From 1st October 2021, it will be a legal requirement - for all businesses that sell pre-packaged food for direct sale - to change the way in which they display information on ingredients and allergens.

'Natasha's Law' - also known as the UK Food Information Amendment - was passed following the death of Natasha who suffered a severe allergic reaction and sadly lost her life after eating a sandwich chain baguette that did not clearly state the presence of seasame.

Once the law is in place, cafes, retail units, schools, workplace canteens or any other business that sells PPDS (Prepacked for Direct Sale) food will have to clearly display the below information on the packaging:

- Name of the food

- Full ingredients list, with allergenic ingredients emphasised (for example in bold, italics or a different colour).

These changes will apply to businesses in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
