Champagne corks have been popping following the announcement that 2017/18 has been a record year for us here at Bako Wales, despite the difficult trading conditions.
The dividends paid to customer members for the year ending February 2018 amounted to almost £300,000, bringing the total paid to our members over the last five years to more than £1 million.
The dividend comes on the back of sales of just under £14.5 million, up 7.2% on 2016/17. This equates to over 9,300 tonnes delivered to our customers, an increase of 3% on the previous year.
The results have been achieved against a backdrop of high price inflation and erratic price fluctuations in the price of commodities, particularly in the dairy sector, alongside increasing costs for operating the business.
General Manager, Dyfed Evans, said:
“We’re delighted to be able to announce these record results and I would like to thank our members for their ongoing support through the last financial year, which was one of significant challenge for us all.”
Bako Wales’ Chairman, John Hill, added:
